Aberdeen Standard shares their motivation on using CRREM
Overview
Aberdeen Standard uses CRREM to assess building alignment with net zero carbon targets by 2050.
Context & Problem
Aberdeen Standard wanted to know whether every building in its real estate portfolio is on track to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. To answer that, it compares the carbon intensity of each property against external benchmarks.
CRREM Analysis
The Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor (CRREM) provides decarbonization pathways specific to each country and building type. Aberdeen Standard uses these pathways to measure the carbon performance of its properties and to identify the challenges each building will face in the years ahead.
Action & Result
With that picture in hand, Aberdeen Standard can plan how to keep the portfolio aligned with the Paris Agreement over the long term.
