How the Pathways work

The CRREM Pathways start with global carbon budgets consistent with the Paris Agreement and translate them into year-by-year trajectories for every building type in every covered country.

They do not constitute investment advice, financial guidance, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset. Users should conduct their own due diligence and consult qualified professionals before making investment or asset management decisions. The Pathway explorer does not include projections of your building's carbon or energy intensity based on emission factor changes, grid decarbonization, or HDD/CDD assumptions. Calculate CRREM Alignment in 3 Steps

Explore how CRREM alignment works at the asset or portfolio level. Enter building data, match pathways, and find your Misalignment Year.

1

Enter your building's data

Set the property type, floor area, annual energy use, and planned reduction rate using the interactive chips. The carbon intensity is calculated automatically. Use the arrows on the Property Type chip to cycle through building types.

2

Match your country

Select the building's country to match it to the correct CRREM pathway. Zip or postal code lookup for the US and Australia is coming soon.

3

See your Misalignment Year

Once you've entered building data and matched a pathway, the chart below renders live. It projects your building's carbon intensity against the CRREM pathway to find the year it falls out of alignment. Download the result as an image or Excel file.

1

Enter your portfolio assets

Bring together the carbon intensity and floor area from each asset's CRREM assessment. Each asset is weighted by its share of total floor area to calculate a single portfolio-level carbon intensity.

2

Build your weighted pathway

Each asset's country and property type maps to a CRREM decarbonisation pathway. The pathways are weighted by floor area share and merged into a single portfolio-level CRREM pathway from 2020 to 2050.

lock Enter at least 2 assets in Step 1
3

Find the portfolio Misalignment Year

Compare the portfolio's aggregated carbon intensity against the weighted CRREM pathway. The Misalignment Year is the first year the declining pathway drops below the portfolio's current performance \u2014 the point at which the portfolio is no longer Paris-aligned.
