Amsterdam, NL — 10 August, 2026 — The CRREM Foundation today announced the launch of the CRREM Accredited Service Provider (ASP) program, a new credential designed to strengthen the quality, transparency, and comparability of CRREM transition risk assessments across the real estate industry.
The CRREM ASP program is a voluntary, organization-level credential that demonstrates a firm’s methodological competency, capabilities, and commitment to a shared set of quality assurance and transparency standards, designed for consultancies, advisory firms, audit and verification organizations, and other service providers.
The ASP program is the Foundation’s next major step towards ensuring CRREM results are trusted and usable by investors worldwide, driving comparability and reinforcing CRREM’s position as a trusted global metric for transition risk. Building on open-access reference materials in the newly launched CRREM Library, CRREM Accredited Service Providers demonstrate ability to deliver CRREM transition risk assessments with the objectivity, transparency, and methodological consistency that owners, investors, lenders, and occupiers rely on.
Why a CRREM credential for service providers
A growing number of consultancies and advisors use the CRREM Pathways to assess transition risk on behalf of real estate clients, who integrate results into their decision making. This growth signals a significant uptake of CRREM across the real estate market and demonstrates the need for objective, globally standardized CRREM transition risk assessments.
“Advisory firms are on the front lines of transition risk analysis. They are often the ones conducting the CRREM assessments that owners, investors, and lenders rely on to guide portfolio decisions,” said Andrea Palmer, CEO of the CRREM Foundation. “The ASP program holds these service providers to a high standard, giving clients confidence that their CRREM transition risk assessments are both accurate and actionable.”
How the CRREM Accredited Service Provider credential works
Accreditation is earned at the organization level and has four key requirements:
- Successfully completing worked test cases to verify methodological competency;
- Adhering to CRREM’s published transition risk assessment calculation steps and disclosure standards, using the CRREM Library’s public reference materials;
- To protect CRREM’s integrity as an objective, performance-based measure by drawing a line between where consulting or advisory services can add value for clients (e.g., improving data quality/accuracy or transition planning) and where they cannot (e.g., producing more favorable CRREM results); and
- Firm-wide, director-level accountability and commitments for quality assurance.
Co-designing with leading service providers
The ASP framework was shaped over six months through a series of hands-on co-design workshops with a Founding Cohort of 14 service providers covering advisory, technical, and assurance services. They helped shape key elements of the accreditation program, including (1) rules and eligibility criteria; (2) disclosure standards for assumptions and data gaps; (3) quality assurance, scope, and escalation logic; and (4) wording of permitted CRREM-related claims. Their practical input helped determine where CRREM accreditation should draw hard lines versus leave room for professional judgement.
CRREM is now piloting the full accreditation process with a subset of Founding Cohort firms, ahead of opening the program to the wider market this autumn.
Open accessibility of the CRREM Pathways remains unchanged
CRREM’s ASP program is purely voluntary. Consultants, technical advisors, and assurance professionals may continue to use the CRREM Pathways free of charge without undergoing accreditation. The CRREM ASP is a quality standard that firms may obtain to demonstrate qualifications, competence, and credibility on CRREM-related services.
